WHAT TO EXPECT

Whether we’re photographing your family in the comfort of your home or chasing the sunset outdoors, I want you to feel completely at ease. This guide will help you prepare so you can show up feeling relaxed, ready, and present—because that’s when the magic happens.

ON THE DAY

A little preparation goes a long way in helping everyone feel settled and at ease. Try to keep the day as slow and simple as possible. Feed everyone beforehand — including yourselves! Full tummies make for happy kids (and calmer adults). If we’re shooting in your home, I’ll arrive and spend a few moments getting to know you all while the kids warm up and I quietly scout the best lighting in your space.

If we’re meeting outdoors, the same approach applies — we keep things relaxed, child-led, and lighthearted.

For in-home newborn sessions, I follow your baby’s lead—there’s no rush. We’ll work around feeds, cuddles, and nappy changes as needed. I usually capture sibling shots early so older kids can have a break while I photograph the baby and parents more intimately.

FEEDING & ROUTINES

Please try to feed little ones (babies or toddlers) just before the session begins, if possible. A full tummy makes for happier, more cooperative little humans—and that means a smoother, more enjoyable session for everyone.

If your child has a specific snack they love, bring it along (nothing too messy, ideally!). We can take a break if needed—this isn’t a studio-style setup, it’s real life, and we roll with it.

OUTFITS & BACKUPS

Haven't read the What to Wear guide yet? [Read it here.]

In the meantime, have a spare outfit on hand, just in case. Babies and toddlers have a knack for surprise spills, and it's always better to be prepared. If you don't or can't, don't stress, we will make it work.

For outdoor sessions, I recommend bringing an extra jumper or jacket just in case the weather turns cool.

Sometimes the best moments happen when we just let them explore.

DADS & CAMERA-SHY FAMILY MEMBERS

No one has to “perform” in front of my lens. I’ll never make you do anything that feels stiff or unnatural. I gently guide you through the session, offering relaxed prompts to create moments of real connection—not fake smiles.

If someone’s feeling unsure about being photographed, that’s okay. Often, they leave saying how fun and easy it actually was.

FOR PARENTS

Let go of expectations. You don’t need to manage your kids’ behaviour or apologise for anything — I’ve seen it all, and honestly, the most beautiful photos come from simply allowing your family to be. We’ll work with the energy on the day. And if someone’s upset or overwhelmed, we pause. No pressure.

If you're feeling nervous about being in front of the camera — I get it. But I promise, the most powerful images don’t come from perfection; they come from presence. Just being there, holding your child, looking into your partner’s eyes — that’s the magic.

NEED TO RESCHEDULE?

Life with kids is unpredictable. If someone is unwell or things just aren’t lining up, please don’t stress. Just let me know—we can find a new time that works. Your photos should reflect joy, not pressure.

I'm here when you're ready

I’m here to create a space where you can slow down and simply be with the ones you love most. The best sessions are the ones where you let go of expectations and trust that the love you share is more than enough.

If you have any questions or want to talk things through before your session, I’m only a message away.
