By Nancy Caruso · Adelaide Lifestyle Newborn Photographer · Mum of Three

If you're feeding your baby at 2 am, wondering if you've already missed your chance for newborn photos, this is for you.

I want you to hear this first.

You do not need to have it all together right now.

You do not need a spotless home.

You do not need to lose the baby weight.

You do not need expensive outfits.

And you absolutely have not missed the window.

You are already enough.

As a mum of three myself who shoots in-home newborn photography in Adelaide, I know how intense these early days can feel. The love is overwhelming. The exhaustion is overwhelming. The mental load feels endless.

And somewhere in the middle of feeding schedules, washing, visitors, recovery, and trying to remember when you last ate something warm, booking newborn photos can feel like one more thing on an already impossible list.

I see you. And if the thought of organising newborn photos feels heavy or guilt-inducing right now, this is for you. Because these sessions were never designed to create pressure. They are designed to give you permission to pause. To breathe. To remember this chapter before it becomes a blur.

— Nancy, Photographer & Mum of Three

Because after raising three babies of my own, I can tell you something with complete honesty: those early weeks disappear faster than you can imagine. Not slowly. Suddenly.

I hear you

"I think I've already left it too late"

This is one of the most common things mums tell me when they reach out.

"My baby is already three weeks old."

"We're still figuring things out."

"I missed the newborn stage."

Please hear this: you have not missed anything.

The beautiful thing about in-home newborn sessions here in Adelaide is that there isn’t a rigid window. It is about capturing this season, however old your baby is right now, exactly as it is.

"We had the pleasure of having Nancy photograph us as a new family of 4!

Before the photo day, she provided suggestions for outfits and assessed our spaces for the best photos.

On the day, she was lovely and warm, taking her time to get to know us and, more importantly, our busy toddler. She captured some beautiful natural moments of us together that we will cherish forever.

Can’t believe how much our little girl has changed already! Thank you, Nancy, for these lifetime memories!"

Finding Each Other

You are starting to know your baby. The rhythm is emerging. Still so new, still so tender.

The Very Beginning

That particular newness — the curled posture, the sleepy weight, the rawness of the very first days.

One Month In

The beginning of eye contact. The first hints of recognition. Just as precious, just as fleeting.

Still the Early Days

These are still the early days worth remembering. Do not let anyone, including yourself, tell you otherwise.

Your baby does not need to be extra sleepy. They do not need to curl perfectly. What matters is capturing the tiny stretches, the milk-drunk cuddles, the way they fit against your chest, no matter how old they are right now.

A tiny milk-drunk cuddle after a feed, a kind of moment that feels ordinary now, but becomes everything later.

"My house is a complete mess"

Can I gently let you off the hook here?

I am not coming to inspect your home. I am coming to document your connection.

For in-home lifestyle newborn sessions across Adelaide, all we need is:

One window.

One couch.

One bed.

One little pocket of soft light.

That is genuinely it.

The washing basket in the hallway, the dishes in the sink, the half-unpacked hospital bag, none of it matters, and none of it will show up the way you think it will. And if I need to quietly move a laundry basket or fold a few clothes before we begin, I will.

“I nearly cancelled because the house was chaos and I felt exhausted. Nancy made everything feel effortless, she even helped me quickly fold the clothes on the bed! And now these are the most treasured photos we own.”

— Adelaide mum of three under 4

Years from now,

you will not look at these photos and notice the clutter. You will remember the home where you first held your baby through endless sleepy afternoons. And that matters so much more.

I hear you

"I don't feel like myself right now"

Postpartum can feel like meeting a completely new version of yourself. Your body feels unfamiliar. You are exhausted. You might not feel camera-ready at all.

I hear this from mums all the time. And I want you to know something:

"You do not need to change yourself to deserve being remembered in this story. Your baby will never look at these photographs and see tired eyes or stretch marks. They will see safety. They will see warmth. They will see the person who was their whole world."

What to wear for your Adelaide newborn session

Please do not feel pressured to buy anything new. Some of the most beautiful sessions come straight from your own wardrobe.

A soft neutral dress, an oversized knit, your favourite maternity dress, a simple linen shirt. Comfort equals confidence on camera — and comfort is always the right choice.

If choosing feels overwhelming, just take a photo of a few options with your phone and text them to me. We will choose together before the session. No stress, no pressure, no unnecessary spending.

I hear you

"What is the baby supposed to wear?"

This one causes so much unnecessary stress. And I want to take it completely off your plate.

The truth? Simple is always more beautiful.

You do not need expensive boutique outfits. Some of my favourite newborn pieces come from Best & Less right here in Adelaide — soft cotton basics, neutral tones, gentle textures. A simple $12 ribbed onesie photographs just as beautifully as anything designer.

Because it is never about the label. It is about your baby.

Not sure what to grab? Ask me before your session, and I will give you a specific, clear list. No guessing. No overthinking.

I hear you

"It feels hard to justify the cost right now"

I understand this deeply. With the cost of living across Adelaide putting pressure on every family right now, every dollar feels like a decision. And as mums, we are often the first to talk ourselves out of something meaningful.

"Maybe later."

"When things settle down."

"When finances feel easier."

But here is the thing: these weeks do not wait. One day, you realise they have already outgrown the tiny outfits. Their face has changed. The sleepy cuddles are a memory.

I offer flexible, shame-free payment options for newborn photography in Adelaide — because preserving your memories should feel supportive, never stressful. Just ask. There is zero judgment here.

One day, their newborn stretches will disappear. Their sleepy weight against your chest will change. And this version of them will quietly become memory.

Session fee is $150 and packages begin at $495 with flexible payment options designed to make preserving these memories feel possible, not stressful.

Whether your baby is five days old or six weeks old, it is not too late.

Book your relaxed in-home Adelaide newborn session, and let’s preserve this chapter before it slips quietly into memory.

Some kind words

“I was searching for in-home newborn photography in Adelaide but could only find studio photographers. After a disappointing studio experience with my first baby, I was nervous to book again. Nancy instantly put us at ease and explained everything so clearly. Our baby was already 6 weeks old, but it didn’t matter — instead of sleepy poses, we captured beautiful smiles and genuine connection.”

— Emma S

“From the moment I spoke to Nancy, I felt heard. I was nervous about being in the photos, but she made me feel completely at ease. Within minutes, I relaxed and even asked for full shots. Now, I’m so grateful to have these beautiful memories and to see what my body created.”
